HERBAL TEAS

You wouldn’t think a simple cup of tea would be off the list, but it was.  For the first 2-3 years I drank mainly Fennel Tea and Peppermint Tea. The normal every day cup of tea, is very acidic in my body.

Originally I drank Fennel Tea, because it was natural and it also helped with my psyche.  Remember at this stage I was like a blind man trying to feel his way down an unfamiliar corridor, I had to start somewhere. I had read that in ancient days the Romans would have fennel to assist with courage, energy, and physical endurance, and by jingo I needed loads of all of these qualities.  It is amazing how many other benefits can also be found in Fennel.  It can be used as a blood cleanser, cleaning the liver and kidneys, and good for balancing the acids when you have too much stomach acidity.

After all the drugs I had been prescribed, and the detrimental effects on my body, this was definitely a winner in my book.  I gradually progressed to many others that I use on a regular basis and will run through a few of them to encourage you to also look to nature for many of the cures, rather than just putting a band-aid on a symptom.

A wonderful book I came across in the last few years,  I use and

highly recommend is “How Can I Use Herbs In My Daily Life?”

[6th Edition] by Isabell Shipard.

So much of my knowledge has been sourced from this book.

Chamomile Tea was another tea I usually drank at night before bed.  It is known to be an analgesic, antibacterial, antibiotic, anti-fungal, antihistamine, anti-inflammatory, carminative, sedative and a general good all round tonic.  Although many years ago it was well known to assist children with colic, nappy rash and heat rash I had never previously heard of it being used for these baby ailments.  Due to the lifestyles we choose to live, we are definitely losing valuable knowledge of the wonders provided by plants in nature.

You will find I use many herbs and spices that assist with the circulation.  Chamomile has also proved beneficial for the circulation.  The many other known uses for chamomile include cancer, Candida, breathing difficulty, diverticulitis, fluid retention, insomnia, paralysed limbs and as a kidney and liver tonic.  For months, Chamomile provided relief when I suffered with constant pins and needles in my fingers due to the damage in my spine and from pinched nerves.  With these problems greatly resolved, I don’t need to take it every night like I used to.  However, care must be taken as some people are allergic to Chamomile and may break out in a rash.

I used Peppermint tea on a regular basis, but haven’t used it at all in the past four years for the simple reason that I found it had an acidic effect my body.  It is known to assist as a diuretic, helps the lungs and nerves and as a beneficial tonic.

(Freshly picked Mint also produces a nicely scented bath when the leaves are crushed put in a net bag and held under the tap while running the bath water.  This is a nurturing gesture for your senses.)

Going through phases of having and using Burdock, I use it mainly for its anti-cancer properties and also because it is a blood purifier.  I have mentioned Essiac Tea previously and how well known it is for its anti-cancer properties; well Burdock features in this tea.  Because Burdock doesn’t grow well in the tropical summers, I like to pick the leaves and place in the freezer for use as a tea during the year.

The most powerful and important herbal tea in my life is Fresh Parsley tea. My knowledge of this herb started when I was in dire straits and when many of the drugs prescribed for me resulted in my gaining half a kilo a day in fluid retention.  When this first began, I was prescribed diuretics.  A week later, I had gained even more weight and was becoming very swollen and bloated.  But hey, I wasn’t going to survive, so it was part of the natural process of dying, right?

I still clearly remember the day, I stood on the scales and realised I had gained 20 kgs.  I had difficulty walking and sort of shuffled along using a walking stick.  When I went to the toilet, I was in agony from my right hip and would cry out in pain when I tried to sit on the toilet.  Things were getting worse.  This was a defining moment for me.

I rang a pharmacist late on a Sunday afternoon and mentioned all the drugs I was taking and what had been prescribed for me.  The pharmacist told me, emphatically, that all the drugs I was on were affecting my heart.  I explained that if I went to the doctor with my concerns, the dosage would only be increased again and I didn’t want that.  I wanted something that fixed me; not just compounded the issue.  My questions could not be answered satisfactorily.

Searching for information on the internet. I found that parsley tea was known to assist with fluid retention.  We just happened to have it growing down the near the back shed.  Shuffling along, with scissors in hand, I went down the backyard, cut some parsley, made the tea, drank it and waited.

Eureka!  It worked.  I didn’t stop peeing for a week.  You cannot imagine the joy of the little glimmer of light that had entered my very dark tunnel.

I stopped taking the diuretics and only drank the tea.  Oh, wow!  This gave me an intense drive to keep searching and reading.  I found so many other people with personal, practical experiences.  These weren’t people with theories, trying to promote synthetic drugs; they were real people who had real problems like mine.

Now that I had found success with the parsley tea, it gave me a confidence boost and an introduction to a whole new belief system.  The inner conviction and belief that I could beat the cancer was a slowly growing, although the doubts that assailed me for days were still there.

AMINO ACIDS

I would like to share with you a couple of the amino acids that I have been using for the past nine years, which I know assist with my health and well being.

L-CYSTEINE (I use Healthwise brand 150g)

L-Cysteine is the natural form of cysteine, which is an amino acid that isn’t well known, and I have learnt to have a high regard and respect for. It is known however that if you have a low level of cysteine in your body you are more prone to infections, which can actually lead to cancer because the immune system is so weak.

I found Cysteine is complex to try and manage if you want to take it naturally in the foods you consume. It is found in Meat, Pork, Chicken, Eggs, and Soy products. (That dreaded soy again!)  All these foods are good for the natural form of cysteine, but in the early days I didn’t have any of these foods. This dilemma resulted in my buying the powder form of L-Cysteine and making up the capsules, by using the gelatin capsules from the health store.

When the body is stressed and in high levels of physical strain the need for more cysteine is required.  The body needs cysteine to assist in absorbing nutrients from our food.

Recent studies have proven that the L-cysteine taken as a supplement reduces inflammatory reactions in the body and accelerates the healing processes without side effects or complications.

L-ORNITHINE (Healthwise brand 150g)

Is another amino acid that I like to give a moment of gratitude to, for the simple reason that I believe it has assisted in my body eliminating the dead cells that could have affected my urea cycle and my liver.  There again I make my own capsules using the empty gelatin capsules.

Your body usually makes it naturally, except in extremely poor health.  There again in the early days I had difficulty finding it in the natural forms because it is found, in meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, peanuts and OF COURSE THE DREADED SOY BEAN, nearly all the foods I avoided.

Could this be a contributing factor on why people are confused and believe that having soy in their diet, is good when in fact it is actually causing their cancer to fester at an alarming rate?

I take L-Ornithine if I am having difficulty sleeping.  3-4 capsules at night, gives me relief from insomnia. I have never had any side effects or problems with L-Ornithine, only benefits with regards to my health.

I have also taken and benefited, when I have over done physical activity and the strain resulted with the uric acid being released and I had aching joints. One time I had been lifting heavy timber (that I shouldn’t have) and that night my shoulders ached.  I took the L-Ornithine and managed to lift again the next day.

FRUIT & VEGETABLES I AVOID AND WHY.

Again I will reiterate I don’t follow the latest scientific studies or statistics that may have ulterior motives to get you to buy or consume their products.  I am only focused on my health and therefore offer this information as a guideline for you to consider for your own health.

I will break down the fruit and vegetables into two foods groups, some of you may already be aware of them.

Remember I am only focused on cancer and not other health issues like diabetes, Parkinson’s, or Multiple Sclerosis.  I live by the philosophy that nothing is unreachable or incurable only a lack of will, and that is why I ask many questions and look for answers constantly.

On the first list are the foods that are known to have Malonic Acid, and thanks to Hulda Clark who explained that Malonic Acid is found in cancer tumors.  I figured I had nothing to lose by avoiding these foods and I certainly didn’t want to feed the cancer.

The second table is the list of fresh fruit and vegetables I avoid due to the acidity.

FYI
Also Foods that grow mold, that is undetected. I avoid fresh corn unless it is home grown and freshly picked.  I avoid any peanuts and nuts.  Living in the tropics mold grows on our foods in our cupboards, and is hard to detect especially if it is white mold, and if buying from the supermarkets.  I don’t know where the packaged food has been and if the food has mold, so it is easier to avoid.

Fresh Foods known to have Malonic Acid
·         Alfalfa sprouts
·         Apricots
·         Beans, Black, great northern, Lima, Mung, Navy, and Red Kidney
·         Broccoli
·         Butternut squash (peel)
·         Carrots
·         Ginger – skin
·         Limes
·         Mangoes
·         Salad Onions (purple)
·         All Oranges
·         Parsnips
·         Passion fruit
·         Radish
·         Peanuts (red skin)
·         Tomatoes
·         Turnips
·         Wheat grass
·         Zucchini – green
(Excerpt from Hulda Clarks’ book – The Cure for All Advanced Cancers)

Papayas (Mexican) were also on her list, I however eat our fresh Pawpaw’s.  Carrots were also listed, but for years I had organic carrots and apples juices and the carrots were peeled.

Acidic Fresh Fruit & Vegetables

Fruit
Vegetables
Dates
Carrots - commercial
Figs
Beans (all types)
Guava
Corn
Plums
Peas
Prunes
Rhubarb
Tomatoes
Spinach
Olives (ripe)
Swiss Chard

Do you see the similarities in both tables?  For me if they were on both tables then they are on my Banned List of foods.  See what works for you.

Having a Loving & Supportive Environment - Is Essential

If you are ill, one of the most critical elements you  will need if you are to overcome and thrive again, is a loving and safe environment.

What do I mean by this?

Even though the Doctors kept offering me Chemo, and I was refusing.  My husband was supportive of what I wanted to do.  He never ever tried to make me do something that my intuition was telling me not to do.  In other words he supported my every decision about my health and my life choices 200%.

When your life is in chaos, and you are confused with an overload of information. Well meaning people from all walks of life are offering and trying to give you advice, you may find yourself suffering with the paralysis by analysis syndrome.

It is so comforting and supportive to have that solid person, that believes in you, and gives you the space to make your own decisions.

When my husband stood at the end of my bed one day, this is in the darkest despair days, when I didn’t know if fighting was worth it, and didn’t know if I would ever be able to live a normal life again, due to the injuries to my spine.

I asked him if I should fight or just give in.  He looked me straight in the eyes and said one word.

“Fight”

The only trouble was, I realised, that knowing how to fight this dreaded disease didn’t come with a manual.  There was no pocket book or dictionary to assist me with interpreting my body, and what it needed. I only knew it was sick, and I needed to learn to block out all the well meaning advice, and just listen to my body.

At the start I was in so much pain, I wasn’t able to pick up the clues from my body on what it needed in the way of foods, and I have found that eating the right foods amounts to about 80% success if you really want to live and survive.

Having the will power and really wanting to survive is also a key factor.

I started a diary with a CAN HAVE LIST and an AVOID FOODS LIST.  This also has to come with a good dose of patience from yourself and tolerating a fair amount of eye rolling that you may experience from friends or from family members, but build the mental bridge and get over it.  If you don’t know what your body wants, don’t expect anyone else to know either. Reduce your foods down to just a few, so that it is easy to see what is causing problems.  I was very fortunate to have the book by Ian Gawler “You Can Conquer Cancer”.  This gave me some very good starting guidelines, and recipes.

I thought my throat was cut, when I had to avoid meat, and cheeses.  While I never had been a big junk food eater per se.  I didn’t know how to survive and couldn’t get my mind around not eating anything out of a can or packet.  It does take time to re-train your habits and break the addictive behavior's around food and drinks.

“He who controls others may be powerful,

But he who has mastered himself is mightier still”
  -Lao Tzu

I made many mistakes when I first started, and as I weaned myself off the prescription drugs and my body was in pain, I had to learn to listen very attentively.  My body no doubt is very different to yours with what it is needing.  I can only write about what worked for me and my thought processes.  This in turn I hope will assist you with having the courage to make decisions about what you need, to restore your health, even back to the maintenance stage, would be wonderful!

  1. Start believing in yourself and your abilities is the first ground   breaking step.
  2. Shut out any negative and scare mongering from well meaning friends.
  3. Watch funny movies, and read funny books, do anything that makes you smile and laugh.

This will reduce the cortisol levels in your body which is just one area we need to be focusing on as well as foods.

Firstly with my foods I started with just juices.  Wash the fresh raw foods that you eat very thoroughly.  We used to wash the organic carrots and organic apples before making the juice in Vitamin C powder (Ascorbic Acid).  The natural kind, not the synthetic kind.

Firstly my beautiful Carers, would do 4-5 juices a day for me.  It is recommended in some books to do up to 8 juices a day, see what works for you.  I had enough carrot juice at one stage that my skin had an orange / yellow hue.  At this life threatening stage I was also doing Green Barley juice, although I haven’t had Green Barley for years now, and really can’t say if it was of any benefit back in those early days or not.  Never the less I will mention it here.

I will again mention OXY RICH supplement, because it was definitely critical to my health and well-being and I still use it even today, although not in the quantities I used to have. I didn’t mix it with juice, but with water, that was filtered, because the council had just introduced fluoride to the water, and I couldn’t afford to have it in my water.

Live your life with Courage and Conviction!

ONE OF MY PET “HATES” IS SOY

I have learnt over the years, not to take any notice of the latest scientific studies that are released, or the latest product fads.

Looking over magazine articles that market and promote Soy has me shaking my head in disbelief on how misinformed the public really is.  Mind you if I wasn’t in this situation, I probably wouldn’t have been forced to take full responsibility for my own health either.

I have learnt to listen to MY body.  It will tell me when I eat something that does not agree with it.

One product in particular is soy.

I have read many books of other long term survivors, and came to the conclusion that I  would have to make many changes surrounding my own lifestyle, if I seriously wanted to survive, and that was not to eat anything out of a can or packet.

In other words I would not eat any processed foods.

After I had been on my diet for years, slipping off the rails occasionally to save my sanity though. I then progressed to what I call my health maintenance diet.  When I introduced anything with soy or gluten (usually they go together), a sensitive point in my body which had a large cancerous growth months before that had now shrunk.  Would what I call “fester” and grow back.

I looked at every packet of biscuits, and loaf of bread on the shelves, everything had soy added to it.  I learnt to avoid any of these products like the plague.

It is only in the last couple of years that I have come across a wonderful book written by Elaine Hollingsworth now in its 12 Edition called “Take Control of your Health and Escape the Sickness Industry”.

In her book she has devoted a whole chapter to “Soy – the Abominable Bean”, for the most part I agree with what she has written, and after seeing how the drug companies market drugs like Tamoxifen and doctors happily prescribe this cancer causing drug.  I am not surprised about the studied and reported effects of the baby formula made from soy, is having on our children.

Ms Gerson from the Gerson Cancer Clinic, also states the effects of soy.  In her studies she has found how soy affects the red blood cells, and has stated that "soy clots the red blood cells, and prevents them from then absorbing oxygen to distribute to the body’s tissues".

I already knew that cancer cells are starved of oxygen, based on my own healing benefits from Oxy Rich the liquid oxygen I take and breathing exercises that I do, I didn’t need any more proof to convince me that soy is not for me.

I also know that soy is very acidic and cancer people do NOT need any acidic foods in their eating habits.
